At Universal, there's a lot going on behind the scenes to ensure that everything runs smoothly, and Tiana plays a key role in making sure the daily operations flow without a hitch. As an admin assistant, she handles a variety of tasks, from customer inquiries to managing stock and listings. Get to know Tiana and her favourite parts of working at Universal.
- What's your role at Universal, and what does a typical day look like for you?
As an admin assistant, my day starts with responding to customer messages on the website, checking best-before dates, and handling order details. I work directly with customers for some of our brands and liaise with supplier-customer service teams too.
Some of the silliest questions I get include: "I really like Radnor water, can we have some for free?"
In addition to customer service, I oversee the stock management for our huge range of customisable Amazon bundles. I ensure everything can be picked and packed ready to be shipped.
Throughout the day, I also send out invoices, respond to Amazon and Shopify messages, and upload new Amazon listings. Peter provides instructions for new products, which could be brand new items, new formats, or versions of the same product with different shipping options.
I also handle claim backs from Amazon and organise replacements for non-deliveries with FBA.
- What do you enjoy most about working with food and beverages?
One of the best parts of my job is seeing new products hit the market and getting to try them before anyone else. For example, Oreo CocaCola! Since Universal is quick to list new products and research developments, we often get a sneak peek of innovations before they even hit supermarket shelves.
- What's your favourite product that Universal offers and why?
The range of seasonings, especially the Caribbean ones like the all-purpose everyday chicken seasoning. The Dunns River range is my favourite. I love cooking with them. For drinks, my favourite is Radnor Splash. I have tried most of them, and the best one is Orange and Passionfruit. I prefer the still version over the fizzy one.
